The G&G Raider has been around for quite a few years now. You know how quickly stuff comes and goes in the airsoft world. It doesn’t take much more than a year for one model to become last year’s news.
So, since the G&G CM16 Raider has been around for several years, is it still viable in 2023? Can the G&G Raider hold a candle to more modern AEGs from Arcturus Airsoft or Lancer Tactical?

Durability
The G&G Raider is made with a combination of polymer and metal components. It’s made with a tough yet lightweight (and low maintenance) polymer receiver and metal internals, such as a Version 2, full-metal, upgradeable gearbox.
Power
Even a stock G&G Raider throws pretty decent power. Thanks to its all-metal gearbox and long-type motor, with a 9.6V battery, the CM16 Raider can get close to 400 FPS with .2g airsoft ammo.
You can experiment with new motors, springs, pistons, and heads, but even out of the box, this AEG hits pretty hard and fast.
Accuracy
The G&G Raider comes with an adjustable hop-up system and a pre-installed tight-bore inner barrel (6.03mm).
Most users have commented that it’s pretty accurate, even with no tinkering. One reviewer commented that it could reliably hit targets at 100 feet, and often made the grade at 150. Not bad for a budget AEG, especially at this price point.
But again, if you upgrade in terms of ammo weight, or even swap the barrel, you might be able to do even better.
Expandability
One of the big selling points of the G&G Raider is its expandability. There’s plenty of rail space on the handguard for expanding with airsoft attachments like lights, optics, vert grips, or even airsoft grenade launchers.
Weight & Adjustability
The G&G Raider is an airsoft AEG you won’t mind carrying all day at an airsoft event. Only 4lbs, 9oz, this thing is light enough for you to carry for hours at a time. There might be lighter AEGs, but it does alright.
As for adjustability, the G&G CM16 Raider features a high-quality, 6-position crane-style collapsible stock, enabling overall length adjustments from 31” to 35”. This makes the CM16 not only adjustable to users of all sizes but also makes it viable for CQB.
